Everyone knows that a smoothie is the perfect way to start off a busy day. At each of these eight spots, you will find smoothies with personality and unique flavors and taste. While each shop has different options, they have one thing in common: fresh ingredients and healthy choices.
At Big Apple Smoothie, cheeky names are not the only thing that shines. The extensive menu of smoothies spans the range of protein smoothies, weight-loss smoothies, and more. The Moonlight Mango (mango, peaches, bananas, and orange sherbet), You Go Girl (strawberries, grape juice, and orange sherbet mixed with a multi-vitamin blend), and Skinny Minnie (raspberries and lemonade mixed with a fat-reducing blend) appeal to every foodie’s smoothie dreams.

Felicia Forbes cutely named her juice shop after her own freckles. Forbes’ vision for her juice bar is to be a community builder: She hopes to provide healthy ingredients to all neighborhoods and bring each customer into her family. Her drinks provide healthful benefits to the customer, including fiber and protein (a digestion aid) and calcium. Don’t miss the Belize It (mango, strawberry, banana, and pineapple juice) or the Island Breezy (strawberry, peach, orange, lime, and coconut water).

This mini chain, with locations in Rye and Connecticut, has quickly become a local staple. Many come for breakfast bowls and avocado toast, but the smoothies are a must. Healthy options include The Shrek (kale, spinach, banana, apple, almond butter, and almond milk) and Verry Berry (strawberry, banana, honey, Greek yogurt, and milk). Need an extra push? Don’t be afraid to add espresso or protein powder to any smoothie.

The Caligiuri brothers sure know how to make a smoothie. The trio founded Green Life to discover delicious options that promote eating and living well, and their smoothies sure do the job. The Apple Pie smoothie with oat milk, apple, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla protein, and oats turns an American favorite healthy. Smoothies like the Thirst Quencher (pineapple, strawberry, and orange juice) and Berry Energy (strawberry, banana, blueberries, protein powder, and almond milk) bring Green Life’s customers fruit-packed treats.

At Root & Vine, healthy, organic, and local ingredients are a must. Owners Cristina and Ryan Knapp thrive on giving unique names to all of their fresh smoothies. Try an Acai What You Did There (strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, acai, and apple juice) or a Cold Brewski (cold brew, banana, almond butter, dates, cinnamon, and almond milk) for a healthy treat. This smoothie spot often runs $6 smoothie Saturdays, a great price for fresh ingredients.

Unlike your typical smoothie and juice spot, Pure Food and Drink does things differently. It uses technology similar to the extraction of extra virgin olive oil to better preserve ingredients and juices. Owner Dr. Joey Amato is a chiropractor who believes deeply in body maintenance, which he hopes to share with others through his smoothies and juices. Some of his healthy treats include the Ninja Turtle (peanut butter, banana, maca, spirulina, and wheatgrass powder) and pumpkin with banana, cashews, veggie or whey protein, lucama, goji berry, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
